I would love it if Lucy Lawless’s character, Ruby, turned out to be modern day incarnation of Xena looking for modern day Autolycus. The premise could be that the Deadites have taken Gabrielle and their child/Ren as vengeance for their comic book altercations.

By reintroducing Xena in a modern day setting, they can achieve the three really big things I would most like to see:

1. Retconning The Hell Out Of The Terrible Ending To Xena

Given the role of the Xena scrolls in the Xenaverse it would be easy to retcon away any episodes (or entire seasons) the fans did not appreciate the first time round. Its an easy little fix. Let's just blame in on Calisto. Xena and Gabrielle have their past life memories restored, so it would be straight forward to have Ruby tell us it was all rubbish. There were fake scrolls produced by Callisto to redeem herself in the eyes of history, after she lost her only purpose for continued existence by successfully crucifying Xena.

2. The Original Cast As The Original Characters

By using the modern day Xenaverse, you can use the original cast and their having aged won't matter. We can have a final adventure with Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Conner as Xena and Gabrielle. A reincarnation story that can let us reboot only a few years later. It would take place in the same Xenaverse age as the original (more or less), or whenever in Xenaverse time we want them next. Thanks to the already cannon tales of them coming back as totally different people, including men, we can invoke a new cast by a direct passing of the torch.

3. Make Them A Real Couple

YES. I am one of those Xenites. Shamelessly. Please let’s just make it totally cannon now that they got together. Lucy Lawless is constantly asked, if Xena and Grabrielle were romantically entangled and in the early days she told fans to decide for themselves but now she just says "Yes". And that really says a lot about collective fan desire, its not just me. Hard core fans have seen the Xena Expo where Gabrielle proposed and Xena accepted and it was AWESOME!

I am not the only one, and arguably the need for positive gay female role models is what has kept this franchise alive, so give me the role models I so desperately desire!

Ditch the sub-text. Give me it as a solid character point.

The main benefit to using the reincarnation line would be they could then use the Doctor Who  principle and reboot without having to "reboot" every few seasons.
