No. 3: Poe Dameron

Luke spent time as an X-wing fighter pilot, battling alongside the Rebel Alliance to take down the Empire until he left for Dagobah. Poe Dameron, from what we’ve seen in the trailers, is a pilot in the Resistance and continues fighting against First Order troops to this day. The universe needed Luke to fulfill his Jedi destiny, but he could still have been a different kind of hero had he stayed a fighter pilot.
