2. The Avengers (2012) – Thanos

This scene gives fans their first look at Thanos in the MCU – even if it is just a villainous, five-second smile. Thanos is being told that Loki has failed to retrieve the Tesseract, and, among other things, challenging the Avengers would be like courting death. Thanos smirks at this idea since he is literally in love with Lady Death and has attempted to woo her on multiple occasions. Thanos seems almost excited for the challenge that is the Avengers.

Six years after this first scene, and several teasers in between, we will finally get to see Thanos come to life in Infinity War.
