The Flash: Three Reasons To Be Excited For Season 3
I'm a secret agent by day, but by night I'm a great pontificator of all things nerd on television. I write for doublewintwins.com and might be lurking in your Twitch stream. Sometimes I play Hearthstone while I wait for my lattes. Enjoy!
ComiConverse Contributor, Fanny Pack, is here to give you three reasons why you should be excited for The Flash Season 3!
The Flash: Three Reasons To Be Excited For Season 3
With the October 4 premiere of Season 3 of The Flash right around the corner, fans everywhere must be anxious to see the cascading effects of Barry's decision to save his mother in the Season 2 finale. Titled Flashpoint (a nod to the beloved comic book series), the premiere is sure to have us keeping notes on all the changes to our favorite characters while the show explores the now widespread dichotomy that Season 2 provided with its many alternate timelines. Rumors about new friends and villains are abundant as well, and I am personally super pumped for what the writers have in store for the show. What specifically, you ask?
Well here are a few things I am looking forward to this season on The Flash:
Wally West Is FINALLY Going To Be Kid Flash
Last week, Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly a few very exciting things about the coming season, first and foremost on my list being that the new timeline Barry created has Kid Flash as Central City's favourite Speedster. Keiynan Lonsdale will be sporting that yellow Speedster suit this Season, which is something I have been waiting to see since the moment the Wally West casting news hit the Internet. This, however, is fairly bittersweet... for me anyway. Awhile back I talked about the many reasons I was excited for Wally West and do not feel as though his addition to the show has in any way been disappointing. He brought a little competition for Barry, and some serious feels for the West family; and when we last saw him we got to witness the long-awaited reveal of Barry's secret identity.
We left Season 2 LOVING the daylights out of Wally West, but never seeing him come to be Kid Flash. Now we will, but he won't be the Wally West we know and love. No, in fact, this could absolutely be a temporary arc similar to Caitlin Snow's Killer Frost days. The only aspect of this story that gives me pause is the fact that in the world of The Flash, we know Speedsters can travel through the time. When Barry finally does resolve the problems he's created by altering the timeline, it is a huge possibility that Kid Flash comes along for the ride back to the original timeline, perhaps giving us just a little more Kid Flash than we would have otherwise had when things go "back to normal." Regardless, I'll be enjoying the ride as long as it lasts.
Cisco Will Be A Billionaire (Jerky) Genius
Ahhh, Cisco Ramon. Quirky, lovable, humble Cisco Ramon. No more, thanks to Barry. The trailer for Flashpoint gave us just a taste of what's in store for alternate timeline Cisco, which will likely end up being one of the biggest obstacles for Barry when he finally decides to try and set the timeline right. In the new reality, Cisco Ramon is the owner of Ramon Industries- what appears to be the original timeline's S.T.A.R. Labs. It's clear from the limited amount of footage in the trailer that Cisco is not having Barry's explanation about the alternate timeline and certainly has a vested interest in keeping things the way they are. The opportunity to see Carlos Valdes give us another version of Cisco so drastically different than the one we all know and love is super exciting. We were able to see a little of it when we watched him as Reverb when Barry traveled to Earth 2, but I have a feeling this is going to be bigger and more awesome.
Four-Show Crossover Musical Extravaganza!
A HUGE crossover event is set to take place this fall between The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and Supergirl, and boy am I beside myself with excitement. While there are a ton of rumors flying about, such as the potential involvement of Joss Whedon, Neil Patrick Harris, and even Lin-Manuel Miranda, nothing is set in stone just yet. Regardless, those of us who fondly remember Buffy the Vampire Slayer's "Once More With Feeling" can rest assured that our musical obsession will be reignited by whatever superhero tap-dancing hi-jinx we have coming our way.
