By the same developers as Soma, this terrifying psychological title contributed to the rise of YouTube "Lets Play" videos thanks to its horrified player reactions, for good reason. It's laden with suspense, a creepy atmosphere and disturbing story, but it’s when the game’s horrible enemies appear that the game changes from freaky to terrifying. With no defences at all, when they catch you, they will kill you.

But what makes this game even worse is that you can’t look at the enemies – doing so causes your vision to blur and damages your “sanity” – so you have to look in the opposite direction to stay alive. So, imagine, it’s dark, a monstrosity is after you, you run into a room, try to frantically block the door and then find a dark corner to hide in. Then, you hear the monster coming, and you have to look away. You can hear its breathing, its horrible animalistic shuffling as it gets closer and closer to you... Terrifying! Brilliant sound design and there's some other frightening, psychological freakouts that I won’t spoil. Many people rate this as their scariest game of all time.
