4 – Fatal Frame (Project Zero in PAL Territories)

This is classic Japanese horror fare – you play as a girl searching for her brother in a dark, old Japanese mansion which you tiptoe around with a flashlight. Oh, and it's haunted with tortured ghosts, many which want to kill you. Your only weapon is your old camera, taking photos of ghosts damages them, but film is limited.
The ghosts are terrifying and being ghosts, can come out of anywhere. Using your camera, which is in first person view, locks you to the spot leading to some horrible scares. The atmosphere is really evil too, with brilliant use of sound. If you like Japanese psychological horror, and they’ve nailed it here, give this one a go. There's a bunch of sequels but this one was so scary for me I actually gave up!
