Sea of Thieves (Xbox One, Windows)

Probably the best received game of E3 2016, Sea of Thieves is a team-based, co-op MMO from Rare. The first person gameplay puts the player in the role of a pirate, exploring islands and hunting treasure. Most exciting of all players must work together to control their ships and complete quests, navigating the seas and battling other crews. Whether you’re steering the ship or manning the cannons, team work is going to be key in this game. Even the map will only be usable by one crew member at a time, whether on land or sea. It also promises user generated content, where players can create their own narrative using the game’s many possible actions.
With the pedigree of Rare and a pile of positive buzz behind it, Sea of Thieves could mark the grand return of pirates to mainstream gaming that we’ve been waiting for.
