Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4)

My most anticipated game after demoing it last year, Horizon Zero Dawn is a new Playstation IP from Guerilla Games. The player character is Aloy, a young tribal hunter in a post-apocalyptic landscape populated with robotic animals known simply as “machines”. These machines have valuable parts that can be harvested by Aloy, or she can hack them to use them as a mount or companion. An Assassin’s Creed/Batman Arkham style “focus scan” allows her to track the machines’ movements, look for weaknesses and see what loot they are carrying. Featuring a stunningly beautiful aesthetic (with upgraded PS4 Pro visuals to boot), open world, branching storylines and dialogue wheels, this may turn out to be the next 100+ hour RPG experience.
It’s already attracting a number of awards and nothing but positive press, so expect Horizon Zero Dawn to be one of the big hits of 2017.
