No. 3: James Gunn – Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 3
In 2014, relatively unknown director James Gunn shocked the comic book world by making Guardians of the Galaxy. It would become not only one of the better comic book films of 2014, but also one of the best films in the MCU. The movie and characters had no expectations from fans or critics, so when it was released, everyone was awe struck by the casting, acting, action, humor, and of course, the soundtrack.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, a surprisingly entertaining performance from Dave Bautista, and fantastic voice acting by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel created an ensemble cast that could rival the Avengers, all thanks to Gunn. Even though many thought the sequel was not as good as the original, it was still a very successful film both at the box office and with most critics.
James Gunn is currently writing the screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and is planning to direct.
