No. 2: Joss Whedon – Avengers (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Taking over one of the most monumental and groundbreaking ensemble comic book films ever was quite a task for Whedon, but he did it nearly to perfection with Avengers (2012). He gave each hero a distinct story-arc while also balancing less known characters such as Bruce Banner and Hawkeye.
Whedon did it again in 2015, with Avengers: Age of Ultron, and this time, it may have been more challenging. Using the same core team of Avengers, while adding Vision and the Maximoff twins, Whedon had an even larger cast to juggle.

Whedon has now moved over to the DCEU to pick up directing duties on the soon-to-be-released Justice League. He is also scheduled to helm a Batgirl film in the near future for Warner Brothers.
