The machine created by Sunspot’s Avengers works and transports a group consisting of Abyss, the Ex Nihili, Hyperion, Nightmask, Odinson, and Star Brand across the Multiverse where they find the Black Priests, whom they believe to be responsible for the Incursions. It is revealed that the leader of the Black Priests is in fact Dr. Strange and that they have been trying to save the Multiverse, by destroying enough doomed Earths to stabilise the collapse, not destroy it. They believe that the incursions are happening because of a war between the “Ivory Kings” and Rabum Alal. They decide to split up with the Black Priests going after Rabum Alal and the Multiversal Avengers after the Ivory Kings.
