The Xena Reboot: A Fantasy Cast

No. 5: Danai Gurira as Xena or Callisto

My alternative Xena/Callisto choice is Danai Gurira from The Walking Dead (AMC). 

As far as sword wielding women not to mess with, you really can't do much better then Michone

If you know the history of Xena Warrior Princess, you will know that Lucy Lawless was actually a last-minute replacement for some other actress whose name escapes me. Thus, I have decided, it is acceptable to name a second person who could be any either Xena or Callisto, since the characters share a lot of common ground.

While we're on the subject, if the writers of the Xena reboot have any sense, they will use reincarnation and set themselves up for a Dr Who-type-deal where they can change the cast every few seasons, but keep the same overarching premise, something Buffy the Vampire Slayer also would have benefited from doing.

[Please note, I wrote this article shortly before writer/executive producer Javi (@OKBJGM) posted an interview where he hinted at just this. I kept this comment in because it is part of my fantasy and if they are thinking about it, I don't see any harm in showing my support]
