I have been in love with Gabrielle since the first time I saw her in "The Price" (Season 2, Episode 20). I was late to the show, because it was on at a time of day when my Dad controlled the remote control and Star Trek was on the other side.

Anyway, life story aside, I was captivated.

Mainly because, by the time I saw this episode, 9/11 had happened and it felt like the world was falling into an abyss that my barely-teenage-self just couldn't hide from behind childhood naivety any more... or you know some kind of teenage angst, melodrama thing like that.

Seeing Gabrielle ignore orders and go out to give water to dieing soldiers on both sides gave me a source of hope and provocation for a great deal of reflection. I thought it was about as bad-ass as anyone could really get, because she was unarmed and had no reason to believe she wouldn't get severely injured, murdered or kidnapped. I know it was fiction, that was beside the point.

Gabrielle was a character that lived as though the world were the way it should be and made me think about the kind of person I could be (a paraphrased quote I steal from Joss Whedon's Angel Season 4, Episode 1 - Deep Down).

So, regardless of your own opinion of Xena Warrior Princess, you should understand that in my head there is no role more important than that of the new Gabrielle and the rest of the people who make her fictional life what it is.

Without further adieu, here are my fantasy cast. One of these days I am going to make a fantasy sci-fi cast game like they have with fantasy football... If someone hasn't already.
