No. 1: X2: X-Men United (2003)

The second X-Men film shows how powerful mutants can be as a team, compared to being on opposing sides. This film took what could have been a “one-hit wonder” in X-Men and turned it into one of the first major comic book movie franchises.
The antagonist in this story serves a dual purpose as well. William Stryker is attempting to target and eradicate the mutant population by using a makeshift version of Professor Xavier’s “Cerebro”. Simultaneously, he is the one who led the experimental procedure on Logan and gave him his adamantium skeleton and claws. Physically, Stryker is no match for Wolverine and the rest of the mutants, but his political leverage and mind-control serum extracted from his son Jason’s brain make him extremely dangerous. He uses this serum on Magneto, Nightcrawler, Cyclops and his mutant “assistant” Lady Deathstrike in order to stage his plan.
If there's one thing that can be agreed upon indefinitely, it is that this franchise is heavily focused on Wolverine. This film delving into Logan’s past while also keeping an intriguing storyline for the rest of the characters was masterful by Bryan Singer and his filmmaking cast. Many of the scenes in this film were iconic as well; such as the mansion invasion scene, the opening White House scene and Jean’s sacrifice at the conclusion of the film. Also, the 3,500-pound ice wall they used at the end of the mansion scene was impressive.
