Take A Bite Out Of The Big Apple Con!

Comic Cons stole my life!

Our Linda Marie takes you to the Big Apple for her latest update on all things Comic-Con.
Big Apple Con (BAC)
The longest-running comic book, sci-fi, pop culture convention in New York City returns this March 11th & 12th at The Penn Pavillion. Historically having a main focus on comic books, BAC also brings together cosplay, creators, and celebrities for an exciting weekend in bustling NYC! For me, it's the one that will kick off my own convention season. I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to share all the excitement with my fellow geeks.
Although I have not previously attended Big Apple Con, I relish the idea of stepping into unfamiliar territory and meeting new people. One may think that comic conventions are all the same, I assure you they are not; each has its own unique vibe, its own energy, its own style. I walk into all conventions with an open mind and welcoming spirit. Big Apple Con is offering nothing short of a star studded event complete with endless fandom variety in a family style atmosphere.

Go Big Or Go Home
Clearly Big Apple Con has chosen to go big! Marvel magician Stan 'The Man' Lee was announced as a headlining guest at BAC. The well-known and much loved comic genius Mr. Lee draws enormous crowds of excited fans wherever he goes and Big Apple Con will be no exception. I have been eagerly anticipating this event due to it's sheer historical presence; the attendance of this great man went above even my own expectations. There are simply not enough words to express the impact Mr. Lee has had on the comic industry; get your tickets folks!

As if Stan Lee weren't enough, here are a few more names scheduled to appear... Jon Bernthal from fan favorite AMC show The Walking Dead (Shane Walsh) and Netflix's own The Punisher, Elden Henson from the hit Netflix series Daredevil (Foggy), Jason David Frank from The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Green Ranger) and Ninjak vs The Valiant Universe (Bloodshot), as well as Spencer Wilding from Star Wars Rogue One (Darth Vader).Visit the BAC website for a full list of guests and be sure to follow them on social media for the latest news and updates - Twitter: @ConBigApple Instagram: @bigapplecon.
Artistic Affection
Not only is Big Apple Con offering an incredible array of celebs but, they also bring forth a stellar line-up of artists and comic creators. A fan can never go wrong by stopping to pay a visit to these amazingly talented individuals; it is an absolute treat speaking to them about their craft. The best way to remember and cherish your visit to BAC is with a piece of artwork that speaks to your individuality and heart.

Fun Filled Family Festivities
Most noteworthy while perusing the Big Apple Con website was the extensive variation of cosplay competitions. BAC is offering FOUR separate contests for those wanting to show off their costuming skills... Superhero, Sci-Fi, Silly and best Workmanship, a little something for everyone. There is even a costume repair station for those unforeseen 'wardrobe malfunctions'; BAC volunteers are ready to get you back in character. Got kids? Bring them! The little ones will be sure to enjoy strutting their stuff during the kids costume showcase held on Sunday. With drawing workshops, free sketches and a bit of Star Wars training, those ambitious tots are sure to be thoroughly entertained.

Big Apple Advice
Need more action? This not so little convention is also offering three rooms of panels. From learning how to become a successful comic creator or applying zombie make-up to discussing hit shows with your favorite celebrities, there is plenty from which to choose. I highly recommend going in with a plan; it is practically impossible to experience everything a convention has to offer, so just take your pick and enjoy. 🙂
Is grabbing a photo with one of the many incredible guests a high priority? It is truly in your best interest to pre-order. Big Apple Con has teamed up with Froggy's Photos so fans can take home a professional 8 X 10 glossy (jpegs will be made available as well). There are also a variety of VIP packages available to those wanting a bit 'more'. Pre-ordering is available through the BAC website; all you need to do after that is to arrive on time, ticket in hand and smile big!

Care to add an autograph to your photo? Guests are typically at their tables signing for the fans when not otherwise engaged in scheduled photo ops or panels. Please be patient, especially for the celebs in high demand as there is sure to be a line. The guests and volunteers will do their very best to accommodate all fans. My advice... this is great time to chat up your fellow geeks about your favorite fandoms.
See You There!
I'd like to thank Big Apple Con for the opportunity to cover their event. I cannot wait for my 2017 con season to begin and I cannot wait to meet all of YOU!
Keeping You Comic Con-nected!
