Good news, for fans of the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.  Abby, Holtzmann, Patty and Erin (and Kevin) are back for a new comic book adventure in October from IDW Publishing. ComiConverse contributor Marena Bronson has this report.

Announced ahead of San Diego Comic-Con by the Los Angeles Times, IDW’s Ghostbusters: Answer the Call expands the world of the all-woman team in a five-issue series. Writer Kelly Thompson (Jem and the Holograms) and artist Corin Howell (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) are the creative forces behind the series.

“These ladies are magic together, and I love tapping into their crazy creativity, science-y brains and kind hearts,” Thompson told the LA Times. “But let's be real, I'm mostly here for as many jokes as possible, and with these ladies, the jokes come fast and furious. Plus, who doesn't want to write Kevin? It's a dream come true!”

The upcoming series spins out of the team's appearance in the current Ghostbusters 101 mini-series by Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening. In that series, the original 1980's Ghostbusters travel through space and time to team up with the 2016 team.

Fans can expect lots of new ghosts and lots of laughs in the upcoming series - particularly where some familiar eye candy is involved. In an email to the LA Times Howell  said, “I just remembered I get to draw Kevin, I’m so excited,”

The first book in the series is called What Dreams May Come, Part 1!, and features the team taking on a Class II ghost and stumbling on a Class VII specter along the way.

Ghostbusters: Answer the Call No. 1 hits local comic book shops in October. Series artist Howell is set to draw the main cover, with variant covers by  Emma Vieceli (Back to the Future) and Valentina Pinto (Strawberry Shortcake).
