Nerdcast Podcast Ep. 22 Topics

Ant-Man

Not many people went to go see Ant-Man on its opening weekend, but the fans and critics that did attend the movie were satisfied with their experience. People who watched Ant-Man in 2D, 3D, DBox, and IMax all has something in common with the fact that they were pleasantly surprised with the movie. Initially, fans agreed that Ant-Man had some lackluster trailers that left people curious but not excited, when in reality, the movie has proven to resonate with fans and critics alike in terms of humor and storytelling. As the good word spreads around about this film, we can only hope that it gets the attention that it deserves.

Suicide Squad

It’s never too late to talk about this trailer!

If you haven’t been living under a Kryptonite rock, then you’d know that the Suicide Squad trailer dropped shortly after its Comic-Con showing. Warner Brothers wasn’t officially planning on releasing the trailer but was forced to give us the whole shebang to subdue the blurry pirated copies. They also released this formal statement.

We have no plans currently to release the Suicide Squad footage that leaked from Hall H on Saturday. It’s unfortunate and ultimately damaging that one individual broke a long-standing trust we have enjoyed with our fans at the convention by posting early material, which, at this point, was not intended for a wider audience. We are still in production on Suicide Squad, and will have a big campaign launch in the future. Our presentation yesterday was designed to be experienced in that room, on those big screens!

The Suicide Squad trailer - in terms of page views - surpassed the Batman v Superman trailer in less than a few days.  There were rarely any parts of this trailer that people did not like- similar to that Batman v Superman trailer. Now that the DCU has put most doubts for Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, and Suicide Squad to rest for the time being, fans can sit back and wat for those ‘big campaigns’ with a smile on their face.

Suicide Squad is set to release August 5, 2016.

Jurassic World

Jurassic World Sequel has finally be officially announced. The sequel being simply dubbed Jurassic World 2 is really no surprise - even to the non-moviegoer. It’s Jurassic World for Pete’s sake. Was there ever any doubt that people wouldn’t want to see more giant dinosaurs wreaking havoc on the big screen? Although we don’t quite know how a sequel would be implemented after the ending of its predecessor but I’m sure many people are just happy that they’ll get to see Blue again.

Jurassic World is set to release in 2018.

D23

d23

If you didn’t know already, D23 is Disney’s official Fan Club largely known for its Expo of the same name. It’s like Comic-Con but strictly for Disney related things. It doesn’t need to be said that Marvel and Disney are attending this year. Marvel didn’t attend Comic-Con this year and so there is a lot of things to look forward to for us comic book fans here as this could be Marvel’s new primary convention from now on. In the wake of recent events people seem to forget just how massive Marvel Studio’s movie slate is and just what a big gold mine it is. Hopefully this can raise the awareness and attention D23 gets in the future.
