Warner Bros. has set the internet on fire with a trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald following yesterdays announcement teaser.
Despite the sequel being under fire due to allegations from lead actor Johnny Depp, Harry Potter fans across the globe have been anticipating the project. And the trailer tugged at nostalgic heartstrings with Hogwarts being shown.
Crimes of Grindelwald picks up with magizoologist Newt Scamander as he promotes a newly-published Fantastic Beasts manual. However, Newt’s trip sadly is interrupted when a famous dark wizard escapes custody – having been arrested by the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) in the first film. Newt is called on by his former teacher Albus Dumbledore to help bring justice. Elsewhere, Newt’s friends from across the pond (Jacob Kowalski, Tina, and Queenie Goldstein) are pulled into an unexpected adventure yet again, when Grindelwald flees the U.S. to resume his quest to pick up new followers across Europe.
J.K. Rowling returns to write Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald, taking inspiration from the iconic expanded material involving Dumbledore and Grindelwald's romantic journey. Crimes of Grindelwald is a direct sequel to the first, with Newt’s schoolmate Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz) getting a larger emphasis. Including another key character in the form of Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky), the maker of the Sorcerer’s Stone.
