A web hits Captain America’s shield, Spider-Man is then shown and says, “Hey everyone”. This small little teaser clip in the previews for Captain America: Civil War started a chaotic frenzy among comic book fans all over social media, and nearly broke the internet. Roughly a year later, Spider-Man “came home” to the MCU and was featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with a nostalgic look back to the first Iron Man film due to the heavy involvement from Tony Stark and his assistant, Happy Hogan. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters across all comic books, so for most of his films to be average or well below-average (with the exception of Spider-Man 2 (2004)), is a travesty. Homecoming was able to give the Web-Slinger a bit of Marvel’s patented flair and humor, which created a much more comic-accurate version of Spidey. One of the biggest complaints within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is their bland and repetitive formula to create their villains. The best villain in the MCU is typically thought to be Loki, but Michael Keaton’s Vulture is a very close second. His motive and situation is a bit different than past villains due to the different kind of story. His goal is not the mainstream “world domination” that many villains (Loki included) are fueled by, but instead, his goal is to simply provide for his family and stand up for the “little guy”.
