Warner Bros. is still planning to bring Booster Gold into theatres according to writer and director Greg Berlanti. Several years ago reports surfaced around the web, that Berlanti (Arrow) was in talks to develop a movie for the time-traveling, fame-hungry hero. It apparently will not be included in the DCEU, due to his place in that universe.

It has been confirmed that Warner Bros. is planning an imprint outside the DCEU mold, with Booster Gold being someone who can exist on his own.

The Wrap spoke to Berlanti as he promotes his film Love, Simon and confirmed the state of Booster Gold is still very much alive. Zack Stentz (ThorX-Men: First Class) script is now complete. According to Berlanti, the film’s fate is in WB’s hands as they try to decide “how it’s going to fit into their greater landscape.” Berlanti said:

It’s still in development with DC. I wrote a draft, they’re trying to figure out both the distance that we still have to travel and how we want to execute it.

While these are exciting developments I would be temper excitement due to a lack of cohesion from the studio and DC of late. But perhaps a solid comedy might be put to screen? It’s way too early to start a guessing game.

Booster Gold is currently in development and does not have a release date.
