Black Panther Claws It’s Way to $1 Billion At The Box Office

Marvel Studio’s Black Panther has taken the box office by storm and has surpassed another major hurdle. As of this morning, the 18th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken in an outrageous $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

According to Variety, Black Panther is now the 16th Disney film and fifth Marvel Studios project to gross a whopping $1 billion at the box office. The insane thing is the fact no Avengers or Iron Man helped reach such an impressive milestone. With an additional $37 million expected for this weekend, the film’s domestic haul should reach $552 million, which would make it the second best superhero release of all time, overtaking The Dark Knight. In international markets, the film is set to bring in $500 million due to a massive opening day in mainland China.

While Marvel Studios have not announced a sequel, producer Kevin Feige has confirmed and potential spin-offs are in the works. It’s rumored that Ryan Coogler will return to the director's chair but not has been confirmed as late.
