Doomsday is coming! News is breaking about the iconic villain and we have all the details for you here on ComiConverse!

Ever since the release of the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Comic-Con trailer, fans have been speculating who possibly could rival Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman to make them come together in the end and set up the Justice League movie. The other question fans have wondered about is what role Zod’s body will play in the movie. From these questions many people began to speculate that the one being that can be the answer to both these questions is none other than Doomsday!

According to Cinemablend, Superman's nemesis is going to play a significant role.

There have been a lot of rumours and theories flying around stating that Zod could become Bizzaro, but the Doomsday angle seems to fit perfectly. Yes, it seems two of the most iconic heroes in comic history will be going against one another, but the intention of the movie was always to put DC's heroes on a path towards forming the Justice League. Some fans out there will be a bit put off hearing that Doomsday will be in the film, because they feel he warrants a full movie due to the Death of Superman story-line.

Its not that a Death of Superman story-line wouldn't be great, but for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice producers needed a villain that could take on the DC Trinity (Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman). Now with that said yes, there are more than enough villains in the DC Comics mythos that would be able to go against the Trinity, but there are issues around limited screen time. DC needed a character that could be introduced into battle sequences quickly and without much need for character building. Doomsday - the embodiment of mindless rage - fits the mould perfectly.

The main problem with Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron was that, for a large portion of the film,  audiences felt as though Ultron had no real characterization. You meet him, he tells the Avengers he's unhappy with the world and doesn't like being compared to Tony Stark, and then you are off to the races to stop his plan. This lack of characterization didn't really give everyone a chance to buy into the character.

So, to bring in Brainiac or Darkseid to combat the League for the ending scene would be a waste of a character. Now that doesn't mean that we couldn’t possibly see a reference or an post-credits scene showing a villain like Brainiac arriving to earth to set up the Justice League movie.

However, that’s a different article for a different time.

In the end, Doomsday is the best candidate. He needs little or no characterization or even much of a motive as to why he’s fighting the DC Trinity and causing chaos. Plus, one of the cool things fans may get to see are scenes throughout the movie showing Zod’s transformation into Doomsday.

This idea got more support after actor Michael Shannon, who plays Zod, stated that he was wearing these sort of flipper like things on his hands. The flippers he’s talking about could be referencing a motion capture suit, which could be them transforming him into Doomsday.

Only time will tell of course if it really is Doomsday that brings the Trinity together, but one thing's for sure whoever goes up against the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman is going to be one hell of a villain.
