No. 2: Fitz-Simmonds
Credit: Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
The relationship between these two characters has truly been a journey in itself. Best friends, geniuses in their fields, coworkers, and they bicker like an old married couple. That’s in Season 1, anyway. I
n season two, things got a lot more complicated. After Fitz suffered brain damage due to oxygen deprivation, Simmonds left to be an under-cover operative at Hydra, the show’s Big Bad. Their relationship in this season is highly strained when she returns and it shows how Fitz has very much romanticised the way they relate to each other. The stark contrast of the reality is almost heartbreaking to watch. Then, just as they start to rebuild some of their bridges and move their relationship forward, we get reminded that Joss Whedon is party responsible for the writing and that no one is safe.
