Now this is one video game which inspired a generation back in 1996, with outstanding graphics and adventure aspects; sadly this franchise never was able to work on the big screen.
Angelina Jolie sadly could not do the character justice in the first two movies, due to a very generic storyline and - frankly - bad directing. The films were make some modest success commercially with both flicks making a combined $431,208,728, which wasn't bad for Lara Croft. However, she really deserves much more respect from Hollywood.
It was confirmed in 2015 that MGM and Warner Bros. are rebooting the franchise and are looking at some directors to lead the project.  Personally, I think any new big-screen effort should be based upon the 2014 video game; with Lara Croft struggling to survive after being left for dead.
This would be a bold direction for the franchise, which sadly hasn't been the case with previous outings.
Could this be the next big video game movie?
