#1 - Ultimate Spider-Man
Wait.. No Spider-Man 2?
Well, here's the thing. Both titles were developed by Treyarch, and although they're both critically acclaimed Spidey games, I thought it would be more fitting to choose the better of the two and showcase another gem instead. The concept both Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man nailed down and capitalized on was the web-slinging. The basis for Stan Lee's creation, shooting webs across Manhattan had never been so much fun before. Ultimate Spider-Man managed to better a few other key ideas as well, including a few segments with a playable Venom. Never before have I felt more like I was Spider-Man than while playing this game. In my eyes, Ultimate Spider-Man easily takes the number one spot, and may forever be the reigning champ of Spider-Man video games. The artwork, the characters, the cityscapes - this game is nothing short of amazing. It is a classic that has earned a spot on my golden top shelf at home.
I'll be completely honest here web-heads, this post was a very selfish choice by me. We've talked about some great games, and are looking forward to be what I am sure will be a fantastic addition to the Spider-Man video game collection. But the truth is - I just needed an excuse to play every one of these games again and call it “work.” Because Spider-Man is a character everyone can find a way to relate to, and I'm positive we can all find some thing to enjoy from playing through a great Spider-Man game.
