Comic Cons stole my life!

Heroes and Villains Fan Fest Atlanta 2016 is coming up. Our Linda White will be in attendance this year for ComiConverse to report the weekend's activities.

Heroes And Villains Fan Fest: Lots To Love

Heroes and Villains Fan Fest (HVFF) Atlanta is the place to be this November 19th and 20th! I can't think of better way to kick off the holiday season than by treating yourself to a fun-filled weekend mingling with your fellow fans, interacting with your favourite celebrities and perusing all the unique items and artwork representing every fandom imaginable. I had the pleasure of attending my first HVFF back in January; it was that experience that will make me a loyal participant for years to come.

I will not soon forget the NY/NJ snow storm of 2016 and how the amazing HVFF staff plowed through the chaos to provide the fans that braved the beastly blizzard a warm environment that felt like family. Snowed-in was 'snow' problem! Even though the event was forced to cancel their Saturday opening, HVFF social media personal kept the fans up to date with impromptu gatherings happening all around the convention center, keeping things fun and fresh. All fans and vendors I spoke with, when the event resumed on Sunday, had nothing but positive things to say regarding how well the situation was handled. As an added bonus, HVFF had a do-over of the NY/NJ event a few months later, in the warm month of July. The do-over event was as awesome as expected but, I gotta say, nothing will beat the memories I have of 'snowmageddon'.

While I am pretty sure there will be no snow at HVFF Atlanta, it will definitely yield great memories for all fans. Here are my top 5 reasons to love Heroes and Villains Fan Fest...

HVFF Is By Fans For Fans

This event is run by some of the most passionate people I've met while touring the convention circuit. The staff and volunteers go out of their way to ensure that each and every fan has an experience that reaches beyond their expectations. From registration, to information, to line control and panel seating, all personnel will greet you warmly and offer any help necessary to ensure the event runs smoothly. I have had the fortune to meet some of the HVFF social media team and I assure you that they are working hard non-stop to answer any and all questions on a variety of platforms. These are people who truly care because they too are fans and they recognize just how important it is to make great memories that will last a lifetime.

Top Notch Guests

Cast members from hit TV shows like Arrow, Gotham and The Flash are frequently found at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest. To say that Stephen Amell and John Barrowman provide hilarious entertainment each and every time they are together would be a massive understatement... these guys epitomize fun! In addition to the stellar 'regulars' that appear at HVFF events, they also have an ever-changing guest list to suit fandom interests of all kinds. For example, the Atlanta event includes stars from Once Upon A Time, The X-Files, Guardians of the Galaxy and Aquaman... just to name a few.

Visit the HVFF website for the most up to date information.

Artists

What better way to memorialize your time spent at HVFF than by picking up a piece of fandom artwork from the many talented and creative artists stationed throughout the convention. These pieces are perfect to have autographed by your favorite celebrity. My best tip is to look at the list of artists appearing at the convention and check out their social media connections to view their work prior to the con. If a particular artist strikes your fancy, reach out to them; they will be more than happy to tell you about their work and perhaps even arrange a commission specifically suited to your taste. Whatever the case, please pay a visit to these incredibly talented individuals. I guarantee you will find them to be some of the most fascinating people you've ever met.

Kid Friendly

Let's face it, even the most well-behaved of children need to blow off a little steam sometimes. With so much excitement happening all across the HVFF floor, it is easy to see how kids can get a bit amped-up. What is a parent to do? Thankfully HVFF provides a Kid Zone! This is the perfect place for a parent or guardian to take a break while allowing their child the freedom to safely bounce around and interact with other kids.

While HVFF does have a Kid Zone, kids are welcomed in all zones. Seeing a child's face light up in front of their favorite superhero or while being allowed to assist in an artist's creation is priceless. Comic conventions are free from judgment and allow fans from all walks of life to be their true self. There really is no better lesson to teach a child than to be accepting of what makes us all unique.

Nocking Point

Looking to top off an amazing day at the convention?

Let the fun continue into the evening at the Nocking Point Wine Mixer. Nocking Point is a winery co-founded by Arrow star Stephen Amell and his buddy Andrew Harding. Tickets can be purchased online at the Nocking Point website.  General admission includes tasting some great wine, enjoying some terrific music and mingling the night away with fellow fans. There is also a Q&A panel with the guys and a silent auction to raise money for charity. Oh yes, did I forget to mention that Stephen Amell himself along with other guests make appearances and help pour the wine?

My bad.

You truly never know who may just show up to help keep the party going! I will never forget Stephen Amell and John Barrowman singing You Lost that Loving Feeling to each other during the NY/NJ Mixer, epic!

Even better though was having the entire crowd join in to sing the Journey classic, Don't Stop Believin'. Blizzard be damned, we had a great evening!
