Being the director of The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, Joss Whedon gave us films that assembled some of our favorite characters together after years of excited and expectant waiting. And did it amazingly. The Avengers is still my favorite comic book movie to date. Joss Whedon delivered by bringing together great characters, along with a memorable villain, in an engaging and exciting film, that neatly capped phase one of the MCU. The Avengers proved to audiences how successful a connected universe of films can be. The trend of the cinematic universes that we see today has its roots in Whedon's work with Marvel.
