I'm a 35 year old Canadian living in Ontario. I read comics, I love to draw and I collect comic art. I also teach karate, play hockey, and am a dad to 3 girls! My comic book passion lies with Batman and his pals with Nightwing taking a very close #2 favourite position. I began collecting comic art in 2013 and I have several commissions done by Ken Lashley and an amazing Francis Manapul Batman. As well I have sold a few of my own creations!

No. 5: No Undies

Back in 2011 DC Comics decided that there should be no more underwear on the outside of costumes and so we get the all grey outfit that Batman now sports (Superman lost his red trunks too). While this costume might be a bit less dynamic it does make a bit more sense design-wise for this era.  The whole trunks on the outside thing was based on strong-man outfits way back in the 1930's.

This all-grey suit with black cape and cowl is about to be seen on screen finally too in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where Ben Affleck will finally wear a Batman costume that is lifted right from the comic book pages!

There are of course many other variations to the Batman costume, just take a look at the book Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne and you can see caveman-, pirate- and pilgrim-Batman!
