It was revealed on July 9th, that Ben Affleck will be starring as well as directing his own Batman standalone movie. Luckily this is not Affleck's first time directing a movie that he is starring in. One of Affleck's best films that he directed and starred in was Argo, which was released in 2012.  It gained fan notoriety and surprised many critics. Rolling Stone magazine said this of director and star;

Ben Affleck doesn't merely direct Argo, he directs the hell out of it, nailing the quickening pace, the wayward humour, the nerve-frying suspense.

This film was ranked high on most review sites hitting 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8/10 on IMDB. This was not the only film that Affleck has directed and starred in that received praise.  The Town is another film that gained a lot of praise for the movie and the way Ben Affleck directed it. This film allowed many fans and critics to see if Affleck could truly direct an action movie. Their questions were answered and in a great fashion. The Town became a fan favorite when it released in 2010. It gained ratings of 7.6/10 on IMDB, 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 74% on Metacritic. These movies show that Affleck has the ability to not only direct a very good movie but also one that stars himself.

Many Batman fans will be hesitant when it comes to Affleck directing his own Batman, but should remember that Affleck will have a lot of experience in playing Batman and the character he is portraying after starring in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Part One.

????????????????????????????????????

One additional news that came out with Affleck directing the Batman standalone is that well known comic writer Geoff Johns will be writing the script along with Affleck as his co-writer. Many fans of the DC Universe have wanted writers like Johns and Scott Snyder to try and tackle these film adaptations of the characters the write about. Johns is credited with writing the core books in the series the Flashpoint  and Batman: Earth One.

This pairing should get many fans excited for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe and should allow fans to breathe easy knowing that Batman is in good hands. Only time will tell what the exact story Johns and Affleck decide to tell with the new movie. Many fans calling out for an adaptation of The Killing Joke, A Death in the Family, or Batman: Under the Red Hood. If these adaptations were to be made it would be the first time since the infamous Batman and Robin movies that fans would get to see a "Robin" on the big screen. These stories could be a possibility though since many believe that the Batman within this DC Cinematic Universe is one that is dealing with the loss of one of the Robin's whether that's the classic death of Jason Todd or maybe an unforeseen death like Dick Grayson can not be determined but one thing's for sure. If this pair were to make one of the above stories into a movie, fans from all over would file in to watch it unfold before them.
