Having procured roles on hit TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Flash and Quantico, Rick Cosnett has proven himself as not only a talented and versatile actor but, as a person truly dedicated to his craft. I was given the privilege to sit and chat with Mr. Cosnett during his appearance at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest (HVFF) Atlanta. I was fascinated to learn of his journey into show business, what drives his passion, and his thoughts on what the future holds for him.

Relatable Rick Cosnett

The handsome Mr. Cosnett greeted me warmly as we were introduced and his openness was apparent from the start. As we chatted, it was easy to see that he is a truly genuine and caring person. Speaking with Rick Cosnett is like speaking with a friend you have known for years; he makes you feel comfortable and has a laugh that can't help but make you smile. The world could use a more people like Mr. Cosnett; I for one simply feel blessed to have met him.

Destiny

ComiConverse: I was doing a little research and see you have a background in theater. How did the passion for acting start?

Mr. Cosnett: I always wanted to be an actor. My parents used to do community theater in Zimbabwe and at a very young age, I was about 3 or 4 was when I fell in love with it while watching them (parents) in rehearsal and watching the productions at Campbell theater in Kadoma. I just did theater at school and then when I moved to Australia, when I was 16, I joined the repertory theater and did a lot of productions there. I just did as much as I could and then I went straight to acting school after high school in Australia. I got a degree and then I moved on to Sydney for 6 years working on and off, struggling a bit. I was doing plays, musicals, kids shows; I also was a mad scientist. I played a mad professor that was 400 years old and tried to delight the kids. My first audience was this group of high school girls and they were so brutal, they hated me. Laughs. The little kids were a lot easier. I think my professor was a little too over the top for them (high school girls) and then I had to learn to 'doctor' my professor to the audience. You can never talk down to kids, especially if they're teenagers. You have to speak on their level. Those teenage girls will let you know. Laughs.

Never Say Die!

ComiConverse: I was looking at the 'big 3' roles for you... The Vampire Diaries, The Flash, and Quantico. I have to just say, I was reading an interview where you referred to yourself as the 'Sean Bean' of the TV World.

Mr. Cosnett: Laughing. That's what they were calling me on Twitter. I didn't come up with that myself. I thought it was hilarious. I felt privileged to be compared to Sean Bean in any sense even it was for being killed so many times.
