No. 5: The Bourne Trilogy

trilogies

Credit: Universal Pictures

The Bourne Identity (2002), directed by Dough Liman,  The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), both  directed by Paul Greengrass, all stars Matt Damon in as the titular amnesiac assassin. This trilogy is one that I continuously grow more appreciative of. The Bourne Trilogy delivers character development with a lot of fun action sequences. Plus, who doesn't appreciate a great spy movie? Often compared to James Bond by people who may not have even seen it, The Bourne Trilogy stands out on its own. This trology introduced the use of ‘shaky cam’ fight sequences and influenced the visual style of spy and action thrillers for the next decade and a half. If you haven’t seen these films, or if you have only seen 2016’s disappointing Jason Bourne, do yourself a favor and check out these contemporary classics.
