A comic con in a casino? Yup! TerrifiCon was held at The Mohegan Sun in Uncasville Connecticut. No matter what your luck on the casino floor, all fans were winners as they entered the convention hall.

TerrifiCon Brings Top Notch Celebs

Celebrity Guests Finn Jones (Iron Fist/Game of Thrones), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist/Game of Thrones), Chris Sullivan (Guardians of the Galaxy/This Is Us), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy/Belko Experiment/Gilmore Girls), Echo Kellum (Arrow), Violett Beane (The Flash), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), and Burt Ward (Batman) were just a few of the big names headlining the event. There were smiles all around as excited fans waited their turn to meet the stars that bring their favorite superheroes to life.

Several of the guests took part in Q&As throughout the weekend. Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick were initially not scheduled to appear for a panel but were an added bonus to Sunday's list. It is always fascinating, and often amusing, to hear what goes on behind the scenes of our favorite shows and movies; and especially exciting to have stars from the hottest television release of August, The Defenders.

Artistic Allure

In addition to the on-screen talents, several stand-out comic creators were on hand to the delight of hard core connoisseurs. Batman pros Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder sat side by side as they signed collectibles and talked with inquisitive fans. Sitting across the way was Neal Adams, writer and artist for such titles as Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, also drew a crowd. Visit the TerrifiCon website for the full list of creators in attendance. It was an impressive line-up!

Skilled individuals were thick on the ground at this convention and I made it my mission to find as many of them as possible. Special thanks to Will Torres and Fabrice Sapolsky for my awesome Venom/Gwenom 'Sketch Jacket'. It an incredible piece of artwork with the proceeds going to help the Heroes Initiative. The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, or an avenue back into paying work. I am honored to help such a worthy cause.

Not only do I find artwork a perfect way to memorialize a favorite comic, it is even sweeter when used to connect with a favorite celebrity. While I already loved my Iron Fist sketch cover, it became even more special once it was signed by Finn Jones. To speak with Finn about the artwork was a highlight of my TerrifiCon experience.

Batman Forever

After working my way through the mass of excited fans waiting to meet their favorite celebrities, I stepped onto the main floor. Having been to my fair of share of conventions, I am always looking to see what makes each one unique and TerrifiCon did not disappoint. This year, the event was dedicated to the legendary Adam West. It was heartwarming to see the dedication put into honoring this great man. From interactive attractions to cosplay to a 'Baturday' Night Party, our favorite superhero had an enormous presence at Terrificon.

Finding Fashion

A favorite aspect of any comic convention is browsing the floor and meeting merchants. And, as I was walking down the last aisle at TerrifiCon, I discovered some gorgeous jewelry on display at The Mechanical Meow. The intricate details of each piece were nothing short of outstanding.  As I stepped in to take a closer look I was warmly greeted by designer/creator Karrie-Ann Versace.

Ms. Versace's passion for her craft is undeniable. One look at her work and you will see the care that goes into each piece. Her website describes it as "...unique jewelry designs inspired by industrial chic, Neo-Victorian, Edwardian, and the steampunk ethos". What I admire even more is the fact that a portion of the proceeds goes to help animals in need. I plan to purchase my own special gem from her very soon. 🙂 Many fans gathered to admire her beautiful display throughout the weekend. Even Guardians of the Galaxy and This Is Us star Chris Sullivan stopped by to purchase a piece for his wife.

Comics, Cosplay, Kids...

A quick ride up the escalator brought you to an area where you could meet professional cosplayers, grab celebrity photo ops, join in a panel Q&A, or play some video games. There was even a space dedicated to entertaining the little ones! With cartoons, makeup, drawing, magic, balloon animals and face painting there was something to suit even the choosiest of children.
