The first big game of 2017, Ubisoft’s For Honor has a premise that sounds like it was made up by a child playing with their toys. The fantasy setting allows players to take control of a knight, a viking, or a samurai in multiplayer battle. Each faction has a different approach to combat, as well as a number of classes that further define their style. A unique duelling system, “The Art of Battle”, means that players who encounter a stronger opponent will have the chance to defeat them by choosing a series of strikes, reacting to onscreen clues and their opponents movements and weaknesses. This mode, combined with motion capture for the combat animations, promises to create some cinematic moment with a sense of reality.
For Honor has been winning praise for its combat systems and visuals across the board, so expect this game to break new ground in melee combat mechanics.
