August 15th, 2016 | by Elodie Cure

Paris Comic Con is one of Reed Pop’s largest and fastest growing events. This October, the City of Lights will be home to some of the biggest stars in popular culture and our very own Elodie Cure has a preview of the event for ComiConverse.

To geeks, nerds, gamers and everyone else, Paris Comic Con re-opens its doors in October from the 21st of October to the 23rd.
Modelled on its American counterparts like New York Comic Con (NYCC), Paris Comic Con is the unmissable French rendez-vous, the major European event for comics and pop-culture addicts. After a first edition achieved huge success in 2015 (30.000 visitors in 3 days), Reed Pop Expos is once again inviting fans to have a memorable experience where they will have the occasion to meet creators, artists and actors while discovering novelties and exclusive content about the best in entertainment.

Along with the autograph and photoshoot sessions that are the daily bread in every other convention, Paris Comic Con is planning, for the first time this year, to allow the attendees to share a meal with their favorite actors/directors thanks to the “Diner Pack”, which is already available on their website.

So far, many interesting guests from across the world have already confirmed their attendance. Among them, some popular comic book artists such as Tony Moore (notable for his work horror and science fiction like The Walking Dead or Fear Agent), Chad Harding, Marcus To (Red RobinBatwing, Huntress), the Director of The Gremlins Joe Dante and also the fashion model and renowned cosplayer LeeAnna Vamp.

On the actor side, Katie Cassidy who embodied Laurel Lance aka Black Canary in the CW series Arrow will be present for three days. She will be joined by Dominic Purcell, who made his name in Prison Break and who is currently starring in Legends of Tomorrow as Mick Rory. If it wasn’t already marvellous enough, the unforgettable Faith (Eliza Dushku) from Buffy The Vampire Slayer had recently been added to the guest list.

Other activities and talks/panels are also being organized to provide the pass-holders with additional and unforgettable memories of their favourite celebrities.

And what would a convention be without a cosplay competition?

The French Championships of Cosplay will take place the 22rd of October between the four walls of La Villette enclosure. The lucky winner will fly to Chicago in April of 2017 to spend three immersive days at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo to represent France at the world finale of the Cosplay Championships, because as we all know, great costumes come with great responsibilities.

This year the cosplay participants will show their creations to an exceptional jury presided over by Ann Foley, the costume designer of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.DIndiana Jones and Star Trek. At her sides, Stephanie Maslansky (Costume Designer on Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Defenders) and the fashion model and actress LeeAnna Vamp will give her a hand in this difficult task.
