DC Comics movies have been subject to enormous scrutiny since the rise of the DCEU. Here, in an epic analysis on the subject, our Lance David Fier breaks down the numerous ways in which the DCEU is stronger than previous DC Comics movies.
DC Comics Movies: 6 Major DCEU Improvements
And the battle rages on. There has never EVER been a film, trilogy of films, or entire franchise that caused more of a divide among fans and critics than the newly launched DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The inevitable answer to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). I seriously doubt anyone reading this article is unaware of all the controversy surrounding these films, so I will not be discussing that too much. I will not be drawing comparisons to the Marvel films, that’s a different article.
Today I will be looking into the bewilderingly despised yet adored DCEU and in what aspects it is actually superior to Christopher Nolan’s beloved The Dark Knight Trilogy, which is almost universally praised for its brilliant performances and stripped down dramatic writing. For the DCEU we will mostly be focusing on Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman”. Before we begin let me stress how much, like most others, I loved TDK. Further more, I love what we’ve gotten so far from the DCEU, which seems to be a very unpopular opinion amongst some. Both films have their flaws, however even some of the bloodiest sworn enemies of the DCEU, and to perhaps a greater extent, enemies of Zack Snyder, have had to admit (at times begrudgingly) that his DC films have at least a few excellent qualities. That also goes for David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad”, another entry that has opinions spread all across the map. As you read this please keep in mind that this doesn’t necessarily mean one is overall better than the other, that’s too subjective of a topic even for me!
