Daredevil second season is on the way and we are keeping you up to date here on ComiConverse.
It’s strange to think that there was a time when we were not sure if Daredevil would ever have a second season. While Marvel had confirmed all of the standalone characters (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist) that would also be getting Netflix shows, we had no word if any of those shows would have more than one season.
It makes sense, of course. Daredevil was risky for Marvel as it was the darkest thing they had ever put to camera. It was also the first comic book show to be available exclusively on a digital streaming service instead of on network television. The level of risk involved meant that Marvel themselves were probably unsure if they would ever make a Daredevil Season 2. Now, however, we all know the story of what happened after Daredevil was released. Not only did it quickly become one of the best rated comic book TV shows ever, many claim it is the best thing Marvel and the MCU has ever done.
MORE NEWS FROM THE WEB
It is also Netflix’s most watched original series, beating out shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.
After the success it had a second season was inevitable.
In the latest piece of news from Daredevil Season 2, the iconic Marvel character Elektra has been confirmed to appear in the second season and actress Elodie Yung has been cast in the role.
Season 2 only began production a few days ago, but already we have confirmation on this, presumably because Marvel want it officially announced and don’t want people to find out through the various set pictures that are certain to be put online. As for the actress herself, she has appeared in the likes of G.I.Joe: Retaliation and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
For those who remember, Elektra was referenced in an episode of Daredevil. Not by name, mind you, as she was simply refereed to as the “greek girl” that Matt had a relationship with in college, meaning we knew she existed and that it was possible she could make an appearance.

To me, the significance behind the inclusion of Elektra herself is much more exciting than the casting. When everyone had concluded their binge-watching sessions of the 13 episode Daredevil run, people immediately started writing their “wish lists” for the next season. Mostly, these wish lists contained characters that they wanted to see appear on the show, mainly characters like Punisher and Elektra. The fact that these characters have both now been confirmed and are appearing in Season 2 is truly exciting and truly something that fans have wanted to see. While the first season featured comicbook characters, Season 2 looks to up-the-anti with the fan favorite characters everyone wants to see.
It feels as if Marvel have been reading everyone’s metaphorical wishlists and decided to include these characters that they know fans are dying to see. If we get a confirmation on Bullseye appearing than I wouldn’t be surprised if that was actually what they were doing.
