In the golden age of comic book movies, we can’t forget all the hard work and dedication of the directors who make these films come to life. They are the first people to win praise or take blame. ComiConverse contributor Dewayne Edwards gives his top five favorite comic book movie directors and explains why they should be your favorites too.
Even though we are living in the golden age of comic book movies it is important to remember that the genre has been around for a long time. There are a countless number of comic book movie directors who have taken on the challenge of making one of these films. This has been a challenging top five to put together since there are so many great directors to choose from.
Before I give you my top five, here are some honorable mentions: James Gunn, who directed Super and the MCU film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Guardians was a risk for Marvel and a film that introduced the audience to the galaxy of the MCU in a fun way. Sam Raimi director of Darkman and the first three Spider-man films, gave us an amazing interpretation of the web slinger that was loved by fans and critics, at least for the first two films. Finally, Jon Favreau, who kickstarted the MCU by directing Iron Man, which is still considered by some the best MCU film to date.
