No. 4: Tom Hardy

  • Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
  • Venom/Eddie Brock in Venom (2018)

Tom Hardy did a masterful job of following up Heath Ledger’s near-perfect portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight (2008), with his role as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. The acting ability Hardy possesses allowed him to portray a full range of emotions with just his eyes. His take on Bane’s accent, as well as the way he spoke, was iconic to people beyond the comic book realm. If not for Ledger’s Joker, Bane most likely would have been the best villain in the Christopher Nolan trilogy.

As it was recently announced, Tom Hardy will take on the role of Venom in his own standalone movie in 2018. With the success of Spider-Man's entry into the MCU saw in Captain America: Civil War (2016), and the continued success in Homecoming, Marvel and Sony want to capitalize on this franchise as quickly as possible. A Venom movie – and hopefully a better portrayal than the disastrous version of Venom in Spider-Man 3 (2007) – seems like the next logical step. Tom Hardy is certainly be the guy to bring a phenomenal Venom to the silver screen.
